Evergreen Horticulture Services Ltd. provides spring clean-ups to our regular maintenance clients as well as our snow removal clients. Spring clean-up bookings are limited due to the significantly condensed timeline to complete the work, especially since wet weather and/or a late start to the season can drastically set back the schedule. Realistically, under normal conditions we are only able to work on spring clean-ups from late April until the May long weekend.  In the first few years, EHS took on additional bookings, but found it unrealistic to guarantee the work would be completed by the May Long weekend. 

Our standard spring clean-ups consist of a Deep Core Aeration, a grass de-thatching (power raking), edging of driveways/sidewalks, a blowout of any debris from flower beds and a mow to help clean up de-thatched grass and debris. It should be noted that de-thatching removes only a portion of the dead thatch to help reduce grass diseases and insect infestations. Some thatch is actually a positive and should remain as it provides the grass with nutrients in addition to holding in moisture.

Grass and other debris are now hauled away shortly after the time of the clean-up. We found that our clientele was extremely pleased to obtain this service because the County of Strathcona does not pick up these additional spring cleanup bags on a weekly basis. Depending on when a clean-up is completed the grass garbage can sit on the street corner for many weeks. We do not haul away debris at the time of the clean-up because we simply do not have the capacity in our trailers to haul away the large amount of debris collected during spring clean-ups and this is why we send a separate crew around to pick up the debris.

The cost for a spring clean-up for our clients is dependent upon which items of a spring clean-up are required as well as the size of the property as well as other factors.
